Things to Bring
by admin on March 9, 2015Summer – Dress for hot, sunny days and cool nights. A brimmed hat and a water bottle are handy. Swim wear and beach towels are a must for swimming, and some folks like to bring their own shade. Spring & Fall can range from warm and sunny to cool and wet, so dress accordingly. A flashlight is useful for getting around the ranch at night. Bringsturdy shoes if you plan on hiking. Maps of the area can be purchased at the Orleans Ranger Station, 3/4 mile down the road. Food – Orleans has a small store with very basic fare – canned goods, dairy, beverages, snacks, some fresh produce etc. If you’re driving route 101 from the south then Arcata is the last town to stock up at, coming from the north it would be Ashland, and if you’re driving 299 west from route 5 then Weaverville has a supermarket. Likewise, the area has escaped volcanic activity and intense drying periods, thus the landscape has remained undisturbed much longer than surrounding areas. As a result the Klamath is one of the most biologically diverse regions in North America. Read more…

Customers who have been coming here to the Mid Kamath for over 30 years reported some of the best fishing they had ever encountered. The much-needed rains of November and December brought the river way up; making fishing a challenge, but it was good to see some normal, healthy flows. January has brought little rain so far; the river has been clear and water temps low,so the fising has been slower but still steady with anglers catching half pounders and occasional adults from the bank below our cabins.
