Permaculture at Sandy Bar Ranch
 |
Permaculture ("Permanent
Agriculture" or "Permanent Culture") is whole systems
design philosophy and approach rooted in the ethics of caring for the
Earth and all its inhabitants. Permaculture is a linking discipline, a
way of understanding, that guides choices and decisions in an
appropriate manner according to each unique situation. Permaculture
designs are a synthesis of ancient traditions, appropriate technologies,
and an enlivened connection with nature.
Using
permaculture as a base, Sandy Bar advocates and
develops skills and model rural enterprises that support alternatives to
unsustainable resource extraction in Pacific Northwest forests.

|
The Permaculture Project
is developing the Sandy Bar site as a harmonious integration of landscape,
people and appropriate technologies, providing for food, shelter, energy
and other needs in a sustainable way. Through our work exchange program we
offer training in Permaculture
design and techniques.
