About Radim Zenkl:

Radim Zenkl fled Czechoslovakia to the United States shortly before the fall of communism and soon came to share the stage with some of this country’s best players, including David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Bela Fleck, Tim O-Brien, Peter Rowan, John McCutcheon, Tuck & Patti, Dan Hicks, and others.  Radim’s original music crosses the tracks of string jazz, new age, bluegrass, flamenco, gypsy, Irish, middle Eastern and classical music, combined with Czech and Eastern European traditional songs and instrumentals. Radim plays an amazing array of instruments from stringed relatives of the mandolin to flutes, pennywhistle, didgeridoo and even cow horn. Radim has extended the technical possibilities of the mandolin by inventing new styles of playing incorporating altered tunings, finger picking, percussion, and chord melodies.   To learn more about Radim Zenkl’s and hear his music visit his website at www.zenkl.com

The versatile artist uses techniques ranging from flatpicking, fingerpicking, alternate tunings, to slide work and solos with two and three moving parts.  He plays everything from his native Czech music to bluegrass, classical, jazz, pop, Middle Eastern, standard American fiddle tunes -- all with intensity and feeling.  He writes tunes in unusual meters, and experiments with mandolin modifications"….read the entire article from Mandolin Magazine
